Another successful golf season in Pirin Golf & Country Club

Despite the complicated situation due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2021, Pirin Golf and Country Club marked another successful golf season, hosting many guests from the country and abroad a and many members and non-members showed interest in the organized golf tournaments.

The golf season began in early April and lasted until the end of November. Thanks to the entire team of Pirin Golf Club, nearly 40 tournaments were organized, and the children’s camps were highly attended. The series of Proshop tournaments this year delighted the participants with great prizes provided by the suppliers of the club, such as Ping, Golfino, Ralph Lauren, Chervo, Nike Titelist, Srixon and others. Besides goods and accessories, the golfers had the opportunity to win wonderful golf vacation packages in different destinations at the “Vacation Challenge” series.

In 2021, traditional tournaments of sponsors took place, as for the fans of good wine were organized special tournaments with the support of some of the best wine cellars on the Bulgaria, such as – Katarzhina, Zlaten Rozhen, Ormano and BNC Wine Cellar Supports Pirin Golf Club in the Season Opening Tournament. During the golf season 2021, our long-term sponsors organized tournaments such as: BDO Golf Cup, Metro Golf Cup, Cup, Pirin Mes Golf Challenge, Sena, Steli & Sarai Golf Cup, Rotary Golf Cup, Devin Golf Open, Pirin Spring & Philipoff and others. At the end of September was held the mini cup for children, organized by Pro Golf and Kimbo coffee took care of the tournament for the connoisseurs of a good coffee.

For the 12th consecutive year, the Diplomats and Friends golf tournament was held on the territory of the  club. The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pirin Golf & Country Club, attracted many golf lovers, including representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, members of the representations of international organizations accredited in Bulgaria, as well as guests from abroad. At a solemn ceremony after a long day of competition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev presented the cup for the best gross result to Dimitar Georgiev, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Bulgaria.

Traditionally, Pirin Golf & Country Club once again hosted the State National Golf Championship, during which the best golfers in the country participated. Not only the Bulgarian but also the Macedonian Golf Association once again trusted Pirin Golf Club to hold its Macedonian Amateur Open Golf Championship. Despite the challenges with the pandemic situation, many guests from different countries such as Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Russia, Turkey and others managed to join the event. During the tournament, the participants witnessed an exciting play off between Denis Staykov and Hristo Yanakiev.

American University in Bulgaria also chose to hold its exciting charity tournament at Pirin Golf & Country Club for the 4th consecutive year. Thanks to numerous sponsors and participants in the tournament, this year, in addition to scholarships for awake and talented students from the university, was collected a donation of $ 3,500 for the Razlog Hospital. The director of the hospital, Dr. Bozhidar Velev, personally received a certificate for the donation from the sponsors, he thanked and promised that with the received amount an ultrasound will be purchased.

As every year, the golf season closed with the final President’s Cup, supported by BS Group Companies, Technosim, Technogips and Technopanel. During the tournament, the winners won weekday memberships, golf vacations in the country and abroad, as well as vouchers for shopping in Proshop.

Participants in the various tournaments were fascinated by the maintenance of the course throughout the year. Although the summer season was accompanied by record high temperatures and a long period of drought, the two courses of Pirin Golf and Country Club – Ian Woosnam and Pirin Pine, were in excellent condition, thanks to the team of our dedicated greenkipers.

The Pirin Golf Academy this year again offered to all who wished а professional golf training from golf instructors – Boyan Stoyanov and Ivan Topalov. Thanks to the entire team of the golf academy, for another year were held children’s golf camps and Green Card courses, which increase the number of golfers and the interest in golf in Bulgaria with each passing year.

In 2021, in addition to the club’s success during tournaments and children’s camps, the team’s efforts were appreciated by rankings such as: World Golf Top 100, which put Pirin Golf & Country Club in the prestigious 5th place in the ranking: „Most valued golf resorts “, and those who voted in the World Golf Awards rated Pirin Golf Hotel & SPA as the Bulgaria’s best golf hotel.

As there is still no snow cover in the golf complex, Ian Woosnam and Pirin Pine golf courses are open for play every day from 9 am or depending on the weather conditions for each day. The golf academy, the two driving ranges and all the training areas are also available to the golf fans. Last but not least in March 2022, a standard procedure is planned, which will renew the maintenance of golf courses and training areas. The new golf season for 2022 will start in April, which we promise will be filled again with many exciting tournaments and events.
